Tonight's episode of "Boston Legal" revolved around a lawsuit about a 15 year old girl suing her school because it taught Abstinence Only education. The girl is HIV+ and was never taught about condoms - well, she was, but told that they were unreliable. It is important to educate children about sex, contraception and protection and how to avoid HIV and other STDs. No matter how much you drill into a child's mind about abstinence, they will find a way to experiment. If you get a chance to see the episode "The Chicken and the Leg", Alan Shore (James Spader) gives an outstanding closing about how the Bush Crime Family pushes abstinence only for schools and if they do not comply, they cut off federal funding. It's time Congress took a very hard look at this issue and bring back sex education.
